NDLEA and NDE collaborate to treat drug addicts in Abia

According to CN Chilee Chigbu, Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Abia State Command, the Command runs one of Nigeria’s biggest and most efficient rehabilitation facilities for those impacted by drug misuse.

During her visit to Mrs. Nwachukwu Tessy, the State Coordinator of the National Directorate of Employment, NDE, the Commander stressed the importance of ongoing support for drug users undergoing rehabilitation.

She urged the NDE to implement skill-building programs for patients receiving treatment at the NDLEA rehabilitation center, emphasising that rehabilitation alone is insufficient without appropriate reintegration into society.

Giving drug users who have undergone rehabilitation useful skills can help them deal better both during and after their addiction recovery, according to CN Chilee.

He also asked the NDE to think about giving rehabilitated people work chances, pointing up that gainful participation is essential to keeping them from relapsing and making sure they continue to be contributing members of society.

The State Coordinator of the NDE, Abia State, responded by assuring the NDLEA that the agency is prepared to work together successfully.

According to her, the NDE employs qualified instructors around the state who are prepared to assist with skill-building initiatives encompassing more than eighty distinct occupational competencies.
