James Okoroma, the former State Chairman, and fifteen former State Executive members were re-elected by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Imo State chapter.
Demian Ezeagu, the deputy state chairman, Macdonald Amadi, the state publicity secretary, Barr. Kissinger Ikeokwu, the state legal adviser, and chairmen from the state’s three geopolitical zones are among the former state executive members who were re-elected by voice vote.
Together with his members, the Committee Chairman from ADC’s national headquarters in Okem UK led the Congress.
Speaking earlier at the event held at the Kanu Nwankwo Sports Arena in Owerri, former state governor Emeka Ihedioha expressed satisfaction with the number of party delegates from the state’s 27 council areas.
He emphasised that the party had enrolled more than 200,000 members thus far and promised that the exercise would go on after the congresses.
Achike Udenwa, a former governor of the state, praised all of the delegates and party members for their behaviour throughout the congress.
As one of the nation’s most reputable and well-organised parties, he said, ADC will keep accepting new members.
Udenwa noted that the State congress was successful because of the way Wards and LGA congresses were conducted throughout the State.
Okoroma thanked all party leaders and members for giving him another chance to serve the party in his acceptance speech as the new State Chairman.
He pledged to serve honourably and to the best of his abilities in order to actualise and lead the party to victory in the state.
“There is no reason the party cannot lay a solid foundation in the State with the two former Governors of the State as leaders,” he stated.
