Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has strongly warned Nigeria’s political elite—especially second-term governors and high-ranking officials—that those who support “betrayers” will face divine repercussions.
During the opening of the Rivers State Renewed Hope Ambassadors secretariat in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Wike issued the warning. He maintained that supporting political disloyalty is a risky decision and that those who support betrayal will eventually fall prey to it.
The minister presented his comments as a spiritual awakening amid his continuing political disagreement with his successor in Rivers State, claiming that invisible forces would eventually hold his detractors responsible.
“Let me tell you one thing: February 7th is today. People will continue to betray you in life if you support betrayers, regardless of who is watching—whether you are a senator, member of the House of Representatives, a minister, or a governor,” Wike stated.
He cautioned that victims of such betrayal would be physically and mentally destroyed and unable to defend themselves when the time came.
“Betrayal is your part, and the day you are betrayed, you will collapse there without the ability to speak. The seed you sowed will be reaped.
While it took time for his successor to turn against him, others would not have the same luck, Wike said in reflection of his own political career. He asserts that leaders who now provide power to disloyal players will almost instantly encounter resistance from the people they intend to replace them.
“Watch every governor who is serving a second term, who wants to install a successor, and who is backing a traitor—you will not make it through.”
“Your successor’s tenure will begin immediately; mine took several months.” The land’s gods have instructed me to share this with you folks,” he said.
Wike emphasised that loyalty in politics is a moral and spiritual virtue that transcends strategy. He forewarned that people who disobey it will suffer from betrayal in all areas of life.
He insisted that current issues are merely the result of past decisions and urged political leaders to take his message seriously.
Whatever you plant, you will eventually get it back, he added.
