Protesters and followers of ex-Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai allegedly battled with security personnel at the EFCC offices in Abuja on Monday, further inflaming tensions.
Authorities allegedly used tear gas to disperse the demonstrators.
Our correspondent showed a video in which demonstrators’ voices could be heard chanting, “We will come back; when it clears, we will come back,” indicating their will to return despite the disturbance.
Following rumours of his attempted arrest at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport last Thursday, El-Rufai and hundreds of his supporters had previously assembled at the EFCC offices.
