On Sunday, during El-Rufai’s mother Hajiya Umma El-Rufai’s burial in Abuja, former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai and current Governor Uba Sani seemed to put their disagreements aside.
During the burial prayer at the National Mosque, former minister Isa Ali Pantami stepped in to mediate the reconciliation between the two leaders.
Pantami demanded that the two men put aside their disagreements and speak at this very moment.
“Your Excellency, let us pardon each other,” he admonished.
Pantami declared that peace had been restored after a brief talk with them.
He said, “They have forgiven each other.” the speaker.
Former Kaduna colleagues Uba Sani and El-Rufai are now at odds over a long-running political issue.
The schism became wider when El-Rufai switched political parties and abandoned his previous platform.
At the funeral, other prominent Nigerians, including Bola Tinubu and Nuhu Ribadu, came together to show their support for El-Rufai, despite their differences.
