In light of the alleged human rights violations in Nigeria, former vice president Atiku Abubakar has warned that the country could experience a revolution.
While paying a solidarity visit to Nasir El-rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, who battled with security officers at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport in Abuja on Thursday night from Cairo, Egypt, Atiku made his remarks.
The former governor was reportedly attempted to be arrested at the airport after agents of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) confiscated his foreign passport, as reported by 460PLAY.
Atiku, speaking during the visit, remarked that the arrest defiance of Nigerians at the airport should have taught the government a lesson.
It was individuals acting independently who fought against the arrest, therefore he hoped that the authorities would take note of what happened at the airport.
People will refuse to tolerate the betrayal of their human rights any longer, and it might lead to a revolution in our nation, which they fail to comprehend.
“The events that transpired at the airport were completely unacceptable.”.
